Bravery is not the absence of fear, but the choice to keep going.
Braver Than The Storm is an emotionally driven story about courage, resilience, and the quiet strength that emerges in moments of crisis. Centered on family, faith, and the human spirit, the screenplay explores how adversity can reveal unexpected bravery. The story blends intimate character moments with the looming presence of nature’s power, reminding audiences that sometimes the greatest storms we face are the ones within.
Braver Than The Storm was written as a reflection on fear, not as something to defeat, but as something to name and move through. The story grew from a simple question: what does courage look like when certainty is not available? Olivia’s ability to open portals is not meant to represent power, but choice, the decision to step forward even when staying feels safer.
This screenplay was co-written with my seven-year-old daughter as both a creative collaboration and a teaching moment. As we shaped the story together, she was drawn to the animals’ fear of leaving what they knew and to the idea that being brave does not mean being unafraid. Many of the story’s emotional beats, especially the moment when Olivia admits she is scared, came directly from conversations about what it feels like to try something new without knowing the outcome.
The Everlasting Dark Storm represents fears that become permanent when we refuse to face change, the kind that quietly traps us in familiar darkness. The animals’ belief that it is better to endure the storm they know than risk the unknown reflects a truth both children and adults recognize. By choosing honesty over heroics, Olivia shows that courage can be shared, taught, and practiced together.
At its heart, Braver Than The Storm is a story about learning that bravery is not the absence of fear, but the choice to move forward, especially when someone you trust is willing to take that step with you.

Heads up! This animation has some bright flashing lights that may affect photosensitive viewers.
Every abandoned dream is still waiting to be remembered.
The Hall of Forgotten Dreams is a visually rich animated fantasy that explores fear, doubt, and the courage it takes to pursue one’s calling. Inside a vast dream realm filled with glowing scrolls that record the dreams people have abandoned, playful yet unsettling figures feed forgotten dreams into a dark abyss. When the young girl discovers her own dream among them, she must confront the forces of hesitation and rediscover the quiet bravery required to keep believing in herself.
I wrote The Hall of Forgotten Dreams as a response to my own wake up call. Long before I became a clinician, I was a student of story. I majored in Drama and Creative Writing, drawn to the act of telling stories and standing inside them. Along the way, I was gently but firmly talked out of that path. Art was impractical. Storytelling was a risk. Psychology felt safer.
So, I listened. I pivoted. I built a meaningful career helping others navigate trauma, fear, and recovery, but the dream I set down did not disappear. It waited.
This film is my way of imagining where those abandoned dreams go. The hall is not punishment. It is consequence. A place shaped by the moment we decide to be reasonable instead of brave. The figures who tend it are not monsters, but familiar voices. The ones that tell us to wait, to be realistic, or to choose certainty over calling.
The young girl at the center of the story stands where I once stood. Her dream is simple. She wants to be a writer. That simplicity matters because most dreams are not grand at first. They begin as quiet desires we either protect or abandon.
Writing this film is my challenge to myself to stop waiting and reclaim the part of me that believed stories were worth the risk. I hope the film feels like an invitation to anyone who has ever been talked out of what they loved, a reminder that it is never too late to begin, but it is always costly to wait.
